Dr. Jody Bieker, MD has joined the medical provider staff at the Lindsborg Community Hospital as a full-time physician specializing in family practice. An employment contract was signed on August 6; she will begin employment the last week of September and will begin seeing patients on October 1. Family Medicine Board Certified, Beiker is the second physician that has signed an employment contract to join the hospital's medical staff. Dr. Andrea Eden, DO, and her family will arrive from Moberly, MO in February, 2014. Dr. Eden's contract was accepted in October, 2012.

Dr. Bieker (pronounced 'beeker') comes to Lindsborg Community Hospital from Seneca, KS, where she was employed as a Family Practice physician at the Nemaha County Community Hospital and Rural Health Clinic since 2008. Nemaha County, like Lindsborg Community Hospital, is a Critical Access Hospital. While in Seneca, she served as a volunteer faculty member at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine, hosting third and fourth year medical student rotations.

A graduate of Fort Hays State University, Bieker completed her medical education at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine in Kansas City. She participated in the Longitudinal Rural Tract Program, completing her third and fourth year clinical rotations in Salina, and completed her residency with The Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency, Salina.

Bieker is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association and the Kansas Medical Society. Since 2005 she has been active as a resident representative for the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians.

"Our mission when relocating was to be closer to family and Lindsborg fits that need perfectly with family in Minneapolis and Salina," said Dr. Bieker. She went on to say "When I left my interview in Lindsborg, my husband asked 'so what did you think?'. My reply was 'I could walk in there and start practice tomorrow.' People were warm and welcoming in an open environment. A strong sense of community pride was apparent immediately."

Director of Medical Staff, Dr. Ben Dolezal commented: "Dr. Bieker is a good fit for our team and the patients we serve. I speak for all of us when I say she is a welcome addition to our staff and I am confident she will be a positive influence for our hospital and clinic."

Dr. Bieker and her husband Roger have three children; Emma, age 10; Maxwell, 8; and Jack, 4. They are enrolled to begin school in USD 400.

A community welcome reception is being planned for a date to be announced in September. Additional information will follow.
